Lately, I’ve been quiet. Processing. Watching. Feeling the weight of everything happening—the attacks on women’s rights, LGBTQ+ rights, and the basic freedoms we thought were secured. It’s hard to wrap my head around the fact that in 2025, we’re still fighting battles that should have been won decades ago. And honestly? It’s exhausting. Infuriating.
The people in power want to drag us backward, stripping away autonomy, dignity, and identity. They want us to feel isolated, defeated, and powerless. But here’s the truth they don’t understand: we’re still here. And we’re not backing down.
The Resistance Starts with Us
Resistance isn’t always loud. Sometimes, it’s in the quiet decisions we make every day—to show up, to support, to fight back in our own ways. It’s in the way we refuse to let them take our voices, our joy, or our hope.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, if you’re angry, if you’re ready to do something but don’t know where to start—here are some ways we can fight back, together:
- Stay Informed and Educate Others
The first step in resistance is knowledge. Stay informed on what’s happening—local policies, national changes, and global movements. Share what you learn with others. Whether it’s through conversations, social media, or simply helping someone understand their rights, knowledge is power. - Support Organizations on the Front Lines
There are so many organizations out there doing the hard work of advocacy, legal defense, and community support. Groups like the Human Rights Campaign, Planned Parenthood, the ACLU, and Lambda Legal are pushing back against harmful legislation and fighting for our rights. If you can, donate. If you can’t, amplify their work and volunteer where possible. - Take to the Streets
Peaceful protests, marches, and demonstrations still hold power. When we show up in numbers, we send a message that we will not be silenced. Attend local events, bring friends, and make our voices heard. The streets belong to the people, and together, we are stronger. - Engage Locally
Change doesn’t just happen at the national level—it starts in our communities. Attend town halls, write to local representatives, and push for policies that protect our rights. Don’t underestimate the impact of showing up where decisions are made. - Create Safe Spaces and Build Community
More than ever, we need each other. We need places where we can show up as our full selves without fear. Whether it’s an online group, a local meet-up, or simply a circle of trusted friends, building safe spaces is an act of resistance in itself. I’m working on creating those spaces, where we can connect, share resources, and lift each other up. If you want to be part of that, reach out. We’re stronger together.
Holding Onto the Glimmers
In the middle of all the chaos, it’s easy to feel like the fight is too big, too overwhelming. But this is where the glimmers come in—the small moments that remind us why we’re fighting in the first place.
It’s in the friend who checks in, the protest signs held high, the strangers who show up for each other without question. It’s in laughter shared after a long day, the joy of reclaiming space, and the simple fact that we’re still here, still fighting, still thriving despite everything they throw at us.
These glimmers are what keep us going. They remind us that hope is not lost, and community is still alive and well. They prove that joy itself is an act of defiance.
We’re Not Alone—Let’s Do This Together
So if you’re feeling lost, if you’re wondering what’s next, know this—you’re not alone. There’s a whole community out here, ready to fight, to support, and to hold each other up when things get tough.
Let’s do this together. Let’s build something unbreakable. If you want to get involved, if you want to be part of this movement, reach out. Let’s talk, let’s plan, let’s act.
Because they can take a lot, but they can’t take our hope. They can’t take our glimmers. And they sure as hell can’t take our fight.
